Flying in from abroad? Here's everything you need to plan the trip, plus a few favourite places to turn it into a proper holiday.
It's an international wedding, so here's how to make the trip easy.
Palm Beach International (PBI) is closest, about 25 minutes away. Miami (MIA) is ~1h15 by car and is often cheaper, so it’s worth comparing fares. You'll want a car here, too. Rentals are usually cheapest picked up at PBI, so book early, as late October is peak season in Florida.
We'll share a hotel block and a few favourites soon. West Palm Beach and Wellington both have lovely options nearby.
Guests from Visa Waiver Program countries (most of Europe, the UK and more) travel without a visa but must have an approved ESTA before boarding. Apply online as soon as your trip is booked, and at the latest 72 hours before departure. An approval stays valid for two years. Use only the official site below; other pages simply add a fee.
Expect warm, humid days around 27–29°C (low 80s°F) and mild evenings. Pack light, breathable clothes, sunscreen and a thin layer for air-conditioned indoors, plus something water-friendly for a short afternoon shower.
Florida runs on Eastern Time (ET). Cards work almost everywhere and a tip of around 18–20% in restaurants is customary. Driving is on the right; most foreign licences are fine for a short visit, but bring an International Driving Permit if yours isn't in English.
European SIMs run up pricey roaming or data add-ons in the US. An eSIM is far cheaper. We're using Saily. Use the code WelcomeToSaily for 5% off your first plan.
Make a holiday of it, with a few of our favourites within easy reach.

Airboats, alligators and big skies, a true Florida day out.

Rockets, the Space Shuttle Atlantis and real launch history, about 2½ hours north.

Walt Disney World and Universal are roughly 2½–3 hours north, worth an overnight for a full day.
